OP here — wow, did not expect this much response! Thank you all for the thoughtful replies on Had a FibroScan and do.
To answer tane_welly: I started tracking everything in a spreadsheet from day 1.

This is exactly right. CryptoCarl articulated what I have been trying to explain to my friends for months. The Had a FibroScan and do aspect is what made the difference for me.
