Let's build a community tracker! Share your A1c journey on GLP-1 therapy. Format: - Medication & dose - Starting A1c - Current A1c - Time on medication - Type 2 or non-diabetic I'll start: Semaglutide 1.0 mg weekly | Timepoint | A1c | Notes | |-----------|-----|-------| | Baseline (Nov 2024) | 7.8% | Newly diagnosed T2D | | 3 months | 6.4% | Added metformin 500mg | | 6 months | 5.7% | Dropped metformin | | 9 months (now) | 5.4% | Diet + sema only | My endo literally said "you've achieved pharmacological remission." I cried in the office lol. No shame. 🥲

Love this thread. Here's mine: Tirzepatide 10 mg weekly | Timepoint | A1c | Fasting Glucose | |-----------|-----|----------------| | Baseline (Mar 2025) | 9.2% | 186 mg/dL | | 3 months | 6.8% | 118 mg/dL | | 5 months (now) | 6.1% | 102 mg/dL | T2D diagnosed 4 years ago. Was on metformin + glipizide. Dropped glipizide at month 3, may drop metformin soon. My doctor is cautiously optimistic. The 9.2 to 6.1 in 5 months blows my mind.

Not as dramatic but I'm happy with my progress: Semaglutide 0.5 mg weekly (can't tolerate higher doses) | Timepoint | A1c | |-----------|-----| | Baseline | 6.9% | | 3 months | 6.5% | | 6 months | 6.2% | | 9 months | 5.9% | | 12 months | 5.8% | Slow but consistent. My doctor says the trend matters more than the speed. I'll take it.

Okay so I'm a bit worried. I'm prediabetic (not T2D) and started Wegovy for weight loss. My A1c was 5.9% at baseline and after 4 months it's... still 5.9%. No change. My fasting glucose went from 108 to 96 though. Is the A1c supposed to drop faster? Am I a non-responder?

> Is the A1c supposed to drop faster? Am I a non-responder? Carl, chill — you're fine 😄 A few things: 1. A1c reflects a 3-month average of blood sugar, weighted toward the most recent 30 days. At 4 months you're really only seeing ~1 month of true effect. 2. Your fasting glucose dropped 12 points — that IS working. 3. Going from 5.9% to 5.9% might mean you went from "high 5.9" to "low 5.9" — A1c resolution is only about 0.1%. 4. For prediabetics, the A1c changes are smaller in absolute terms because you're starting lower. Going from 5.9 to 5.5 is actually a bigger relative improvement than someone going from 9 to 7. Give it another 3 months. I bet you'll see 5.5-5.6% at your next draw.
