Can I just vent for a second about oral glp-1 for elderly patients need?

I know this forum is evidence-based and I love that about it, but sometimes you just need to let it out. I hit another plateau and I am frustrated.

Not looking for a fix necessarily — just solidarity. Anyone else going through this right now?

COA_Karl's experience with Oral GLP-1 for elderly resonates deeply with mine. I went through almost the identical process — starting dose, titration timeline, side effects, everything.

The main difference: I titrated faster. But the overall trajectory has been remarkably similar. Down 64 lbs in 9 months.

One thing I would add that COA_Karl did not mention: the relationship with food fundamentally changed.

Thanks for sharing this, COA_Karl. A few questions about your Oral GLP-1 for experience:

  1. What dose did you start at?
  2. How long before you noticed side effects improving?
  3. Did your provider have any specific recommendations about Oral GLP-1 for?

I am in a similar boat and trying to learn from others' experiences before my next appointment.

OP here — wow, did not expect this much response! Thank you all for the thoughtful replies on Oral GLP-1 for elderly.

To answer mona_PHX: yes, I am on compounded sema from a 503B pharmacy.

Quick update: things are still going well. Thanks again for the evidence-based discussion — this is exactly why I posted in a science-based community. 🙏

Relevant to Oral GLP-1 for elderly — here is my latest bloodwork comparison:

Key improvements: A1C 8.4% → 5.5%, triglycerides 217 → 117 mg/dL, hsCRP 8.0 → 1.1 mg/L. All on tirzepatide for 9 months.

The inflammatory marker drop is what impresses me most. Consistent with the SELECT trial's cardiovascular findings.
