Just wanted to say β€” for anyone reading this Canadian GLP-1 thread who is feeling discouraged: it gets better. The first few weeks are the hardest. Hang in there. πŸ’ͺ

Want to share my personal experience related to Canadian GLP-1 coverage since I think it might help others in a similar situation.

I started my GLP-1 journey in March 2025 at 250 lbs with metabolic syndrome. My telehealth provider prescribed semaglutide 0.25mg to start.

Now, 12 months later: I am down 80 lbs, my labs have normalized, and my sleep apnea has improved dramatically. The Canadian GLP-1 aspect specifically was something that made a big difference in my journey.

This forum was my go-to resource throughout.

Clinical perspective on Canadian GLP-1 coverage anyone have:

I have managed ~150 patients on GLP-1 therapy and this topic comes up frequently. What the data shows β€” and what I see in practice β€” is that the medication works best as part of a comprehensive approach.

For this specific question, I would recommend: getting comprehensive baseline labs first.

Relevant to Canadian GLP-1 coverage β€” here is my latest bloodwork comparison:

Key improvements: A1C 8.4% β†’ 5.5%, triglycerides 213 β†’ 113 mg/dL, hsCRP 8.0 β†’ 1.3 mg/L. All on tirzepatide for 17 months.

The inflammatory marker drop is what impresses me most. Consistent with the SELECT trial's cardiovascular findings.
