Sema prices are all over the place — looking for input

Saw this come across my feed today and thought the community would want to discuss.

Sema prices are all over the is something that affects a lot of us here, and the latest information is worth paying attention to. I'll share what I know and hopefully others can fill in the gaps.

Key points as I understand them:

  • This has been evolving over the past few months
  • There are different perspectives on how to approach it
  • The practical implications depend on your specific situation

What are you all hearing from your providers about this? Anyone have direct experience to share?

RunnerRach's experience with Sema prices are all over resonates deeply with mine. I went through almost the identical process — starting dose, titration timeline, side effects, everything.

The main difference: I titrated faster. But the overall trajectory has been remarkably similar. Down 68 lbs in 13 months.

One thing I would add that RunnerRach did not mention: the relationship with food fundamentally changed.

Thanks for sharing this, RunnerRach. A few questions about your Sema prices are all experience:

  1. What dose did you start at?
  2. How long before you noticed side effects improving?
  3. Did your provider have any specific recommendations about Sema prices are?

I am in a similar boat and trying to learn from others' experiences before my next appointment.

OP here — wow, did not expect this much response! Thank you all for the thoughtful replies on Sema prices are all over.

To answer dan_philly: yes, I am on compounded sema from a 503B pharmacy.

Quick update: things are still going well. Thanks again for the evidence-based discussion — this is exactly why I posted in a science-based community. 🙏

Relevant to Sema prices are all over the — here is my latest bloodwork comparison:

Key improvements: A1C 7.6% → 5.5%, triglycerides 241 → 111 mg/dL, hsCRP 8.0 → 1.1 mg/L. All on tirzepatide for 9 months.

The inflammatory marker drop is what impresses me most. Consistent with the SELECT trial's cardiovascular findings.
